🛍 Help Us Fight Food Insecurity in Finney County!
Food insecurity remains a critical issue for many families in Finney County—but together, we can help make a difference. The Finney County Local Health Equity Action Team (LHEAT) has created a simple way for community members to support local food pantries with healthier options.
Here’s how you can help:
-
Fill a bag with non-perishable, nutritious food items from the Healthy Food Donation List (see below).
-
Drop it off at any of the following participating food pantry locations:
-
Emmaus House – 802 N. 5th Street
-
The Salvation Army – 216 N. 9th Street
-
The Community Church – 614 N. 13th Street
The Healthy Food Donation List includes items such as:
-
Canned fruit in 100% juice, unsweetened applesauce, and dried fruit
-
Low-sodium canned vegetables and sauces
-
Whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, and whole wheat pasta
-
Shelf-stable low-fat milk, unsweetened soy milk, and healthy beverages
-
Canned beans, low-sodium proteins, and unsalted nuts
-
Healthy condiments, oils, and whole grain cereals
✨ Helpful Tips: Choose items with pop-top lids, check expiration dates, look for items designated as “WIC Approved”, and look for low sodium, low sugar, and high fiber options.
This initiative supports our broader CHIP (Community Health Improvement Plan) goals of improving access to nutritious foods and promoting health equity across Finney County.
