LiveWell Finney County, in partnership with the Garden City Police Department and East Garden Village, recently hosted National Night Out on August 2nd in the East Garden Village neighborhood.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

The following community partners made it possible for those in attendance to enjoy a BBQ meal, listen to music, visit booths with information and resources, play games, and interact with local first responders with the opportunity to check out their equipment:

  • St Catherine Hospital-Garden City/Centura Health
  • East Garden Village
  • Cornerstone Church
  • Finney County Health Department & Finney County WIC
  • Genesis Family Health
  • Parents as Teachers
  • Garden City Career Connection Academy (GCCCA)
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Finney & Kearny Counties
  • Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas
  • Garden City Police Department
  • Finney County EMS
  • Garden City Fire Department
  • Tyson

Special thanks to the Garden City High School Cross Country Team for their help!

LiveWell’s efforts at East Garden Village are made possible through Centura Healthcare’s Health Equity & Advancement Fund.  Centura Health established the annual $5 million community grant program to extend the impact of community efforts focused on advancing social justice through initiatives that extend health equity across Colorado and Western Kansas.  The fund further supports Centura’s vision of every community, every neighborhood, every life – whole and healthy.
